How to prepare for your first laser hair removal session
A few simple steps before your first session make the difference between a good result and an excellent one. Here's what we recommend.
The first session is always the most exciting. To help you feel at ease and get the best results, here's how to prepare.
2–4 weeks before
- Avoid waxing, tweezing or epilating. The laser needs the hair root intact. Shaving is fine.
- No sun exposure or tanning beds. Tanned skin increases the risk of irritation.
24 hours before
- Shave the area to be treated the day before.
- Cleanse the skin of creams, oils, deodorant or makeup on the day of your session.
On the day
Arrive with clean, dry skin and wear comfortable clothing. We'll walk you through every step and run a sensitivity patch test if it's your first time with the laser.
After your session
- Avoid hot water, saunas and the gym for 24–48 hours.
- Apply a soothing cream and SPF 50 sun protection over the following days.
- It's normal for hair to appear to "keep growing" in the first week — it's actually being shed gradually.
