How many laser hair removal sessions do you need?
The number of sessions varies from person to person. Here's why several are needed and how to know when you're done.
One of the most common questions we hear at Rüya Skin is: "How many sessions do I need for lasting results?" The short answer is 6 to 8 sessions, but it's worth understanding why.
Why one session isn't enough
Hair grows in three phases, and the laser only works effectively during the active (anagen) phase. At any given moment, only a portion of your hair is in that phase — which is why we need several sessions, spaced at regular intervals, to catch every hair at the right time.
The interval between sessions
- Facial areas: every 4–6 weeks
- Body: every 6–8 weeks
Respecting the interval matters. Too early and the hair hasn't reached the active phase; too late and we lose momentum.
What affects the number of sessions
- Hair type and colour — dark, coarse hair responds best.
- The treated area — hormonally sensitive zones (chin, bikini) may need extra sessions.
- Consistency — the best results come when you keep to the recommended schedule.
In short
Permanent laser hair removal is a process, not a one-time event. With patience and a personalised plan, most of our clients see a significant reduction after the first 3–4 sessions and lasting results by the end of the course.
